For this Walkabout Wednesday I walked all the way out to my yard. I loved these tiny maple leaves growing out of the trunk of the maple tree – the green is so fresh and new!

While I was out in the yard I saw a Kristi-girl looking at me looking at her! The football thingy is a pair of binocular-type things.

Snapshot Sunday! Here are a few shots from around Scrivnerburg…
grass-again
We’re trying the grass thing again this year (4th year!). This time we have a hardier seed that is supposed to be able to handle less water and full shade. We’ll see.

green-grass
This nice tall one looks happy! Maybe it will joyfully spread its seeds and make our yard look like there’s something like grass growing.

I got this dahlia plant for Mother’s Day with a few buds on it. It got left outside one cold night (I didn’t realize it was going to be in the 20’s!) and all the leaves got nipped by the cold (that’s the brownish stuff in the photo), but this blossom persevered. It doesn’t look perfect, but it’s blooming! This plant has plans!

Okay…Snapshot Sunday is done. Thanks for peeking in!

Monday Meanderings

Monochrome Monday! As Caleb and I were taking our photo walk today we passed by these air conditioning units (I assume – they’re sticking out of windows in a building). Caleb pointed at the filter portion and said, “That’s black and white!” He was absolutely correct, so I shot it for my monochrome Monday photo. I like the pattern.

Word of the day – Catkin.  We also discovered these wonderful treasures on our walk. I knew they were the cottonwood flowers but I could not remember what they were called. Caleb and I talked about it for most of our walk, and when we got home the first thing we did was Google it. Catkins! That was it!

Amanda Hill shared this nice, simple storyboard on her blog recently– thanks Amanda! I put a few photos from the weekend in it just to test it out. I’m sure you’ll be seeing this layout often!

I snapped this shot quickly this morning because I thought it was cute…then I played with some freebies from Totally Rad Actions, and I decided I really liked the photo! Molly is so tolerant, and Kristi just adores her!

It’s Snapshot Sunday! I wanted to practice shooting with sunlight through my diffuser panel (part of my 5-in-1 reflector), but the light was still too bright for Kristi Rose Toes. She was very squinty. But I had to take a picture of her puppy-dog-ear ponytails because I love them, and I fear that she will be too grown up for them before I know it. She’s just such a cutie patootie.

I took a series of Thankful Thursday photos today – my littlest woman was trying her very hardest to play football with the guys. She was jumping, reaching, squealing, running, for all she was worth…but I don’t think she’s going pro any time soon.
Kristi-football-storyboard
Notice how the ball keeps going behind her when she throws…oops. In the third shot you can see that Andrew has his eyes on the ball, but Kristi is not looking at it. That will make it harder to catch it. In #4, see that great leap? You can’t see the ball because it’s out of the top of the frame. Oh well, she tried. “Uncle Joey” (Felice’s brother) tried to throw it right to her, but even that didn’t work too well. She sure can jump though!

For those who are newer to my blog, you might find our family’s story interesting. The great thing about this little football woman is that when she was an infant there was no certainty that she would ever even walk. Not only does she walk, but she runs, jumps, skips, hops, rides, races, swings, leaps – she’s truly a walking miracle.

46/365

This is the second Monday in a row that I’ve just quickly snapped a moment. This one’s purpose is to document that Kristi and Caleb can actually play nicely together for a few minutes. They were sharing The Chair and playing a video game. It was sweet! (For a moment. Then Kristi objected to Caleb touching her or something.)

It’s Snapshot Sunday! Here are just a couple snaps from our Super Bowl celebration.

Super Bowl dinner…

With a glass of milk it’s a well-rounded meal, right?

Walkabout Wednesday wasn’t too thrilling – again. It has been so foggy that I could walk for miles and never see anything different. This afternoon it finally cleared off for a while, but I had already taken my photos for today, so I didn’t get outside again.

Here’s one shot from walking from the school to my car (that’s a walkabout, right?)…
frosty-leaves
I love the lacy edges on these leaves. They got dressed up for the literacy lunch!

I was at the school for a Literacy Lunch. Each of the elementary classes has one every year. We do a literacy activity and then have lunch in the kids’ classroom. Today we made a cute little tree picture by tracing Kristi’s arm and hand on paper, cutting it out, then gluing it and colored leaves on blue paper. Caleb cut the fringies for our grass. He did a great job!

The first photo is Kristi coloring leaves. Our leaves represent many types of trees and seasons. lol. The second shot is Rose working doubly hard at her coloring! Next is our finished product, and then our yummy taco salad lunch.

Here’s a bonus shot of my beautiful little lady.

It’s almost time!

I’m very excited to start my next 365 project! I’ll start tomorrow with my first daily theme photo. For my friends and followers, please be sure to keep an eye on My Project 365 Friends’ blogs (listed on the right) – there are at least 5 of us doing this together, so there will be a lot of great photos!

A photo blog is a bit boring without a photo, so here is Kristi – grounded to a chair after breaking her bedroom window.

Day 350

We have a houseful of sickies today. Most of the kids aren’t really sick, but they’re germy, so I kept them home from church. A couple just have headaches and a little cough. No biggie. But Dale has been sick for a few days, as has Caleb. They’re both still miserable. Poor guys. Tomorrow might be time for a call to the doc. :-(

Kristi hasn’t seemed to be very sick – just a little cough – but she was in the boys’ room with them this afternoon and Nathan bumped into her. Apparently that was very painful to her broken collarbone! She came out howling and settled into a comfy chair where she stayed (sleeping) for the next 4+ hours!

Sorry these aren’t studio quality photos…it just isn’t happening these days. I will have some soon. If I don’t get some great shots earlier, I should have some next weekend after I do a few more church sessions.

Day 349

We finally got to celebrate Andrew’s birthday today! We went to Qwivals again. The kids really love going there, but I think we’ll do all at-home parties next year, just for something different. Here are a few snaps from the party.

I had a hard time enjoying the beginning of the party – Caleb is sick today and couldn’t go. He stayed home with Fancy. When I left he was sobbing his little heart out and saying, “I want to go to Qwivals!” It was terrible! But he soon fell asleep again, and was fine when we got home.

Here’s a snapshot that I thought might amuse a few of my regular readers/viewers…

Does Ken ever get to use his own chair?

Oh, and one more of me and my miserable little man this afternoon…

Day 347

I thought it was time to get a shot of our “armless” girl. She has her left arm in a sling that’s wrapped to her body with an Ace-type bandage. It stays hidden under there all the time, and will for about 6 weeks.

Is anyone else sensing a trend here? (See yesterday’s blog.)

Day 344

What a day! It was Andrew’s birthday, and I didn’t get a chance to take any birthday photos of him, but I did shoot the homemade pizza I made for him!

This photo was taken moments before Kristi came in the house shrieking like we’ve never heard…she was obviously in great distress! After just a few minutes it became clear that whatever had happened was not your run-of-the-mill bump or bruise, so we took her to the ER. Sorry we couldn’t celebrate, Andrew!

It turns out the Kristi broke her collarbone when she fell. The dr. said she did a pretty good job of it too!

Kristi came home, got ready for bed, and went to sleep immediately. At this moment she is sleeping peacefully!

Day 336

Just another Sunday snapshot today…but this one cracks me up. This photo doesn’t tell its own story, so I’ll have to share it with you. As you may have noticed over the last year, Kristi sometimes gets funny things in her head, and her newest one involves Molly. Her new favorite game is “Molly, make a dog face!” She usually says it two or three times, then praises Molly for making a dog face. lol. She then moves on to her next activity, but she comes back pretty soon to have Molly make another dog face.

On the rare occasions when Molly won’t “make a dog face” Kristi has found that she can tempt her with a few pieces of dog food and Molly will make the appropriate face. I’m so glad Molly’s training is in good hands.

Day 332

I had a great time learning new tricks for using templates and such today. I got this great frame from designbyjenn.com. I love her stuff! I put a bit of pink over the green of the frame to make it more… “Kristi.”

Day 318

Fancy and Caleb started school today…

Kristi got her teeth fixed, too! Here’s a shot with the chipped toofers…
(Sorry I couldn’t find a better shot of the chippedness that wasn’t gory.)

And here’s a new one today…

Day 303

Today was my youngest daughter’s birthday. It’s been a very busy day, so you just get snaps from Kristi’s party. Two parties in 4 days will wear a mommy out! I’m headed to bed!

Happy, happy birthday Punkindoodle! I can’t believe you are 8 years old already!

(Oh, the t-shirt says “Crowns are always in style.”)

Day 272

I took my girls out for a quick session this morning. Kinda scouting some locations around town. I didn’t get one I loved of Kristi, but this one was okay.

Then I got a few of just Fancy. This was my favorite…

And if you missed it, make sure to check out my family blog for Andrew’s newest culinary creation!

Day 252

Today was pack up day at Nana’s. We had to be at church at 7:30am, so we got up and got to church, then came back, had a yummy lunch, and then packed up the camp. Whew!

Before we packed up Kristi was out back playing with her “pet grasshopper.” Yesterday she caught one and named it Samantha. She played with it for a while, but Samantha left. Kristi caught another one today and told me it was the same Samantha. This one didn’t seem any more willing to hang around, but Kristi is nothing if not persistent. Here is Samantha on Kristi’s leg…
Kristi's Samantha

And then Kristi looking for Samantha…
where are you Samantha

We’re home, and we’re gonna hang out here for a few weeks. This camping stuff is fun, but it’s hard work too! (Unless you have a permanent home in a campground and just have to travel there and sleep in a hammock.)
