Today’s Scenic Saturday photos are party scenery! We celebrated Rose and Virginia’s birthday here at our house today (their house isn’t big enough for our party!). Everyone had a great time! Felice took a bunch of photos of the kids, so I took photos of the “stuff.”

Felice did a great job planning this party. The girls wanted an Indiana Jones theme, so they had Indiana Jones decorations, costumes, all the party favors (mostly handmade by Felice – sorry I don’t have photos of those – I didn’t get a chance!) were IJ themed…they even got to watch part of the original movie! They all loved it!

Even though I did almost nothing to prepare for this party, I’m exhausted!

20/365

Walkabout Wednesday wasn’t too thrilling – again. It has been so foggy that I could walk for miles and never see anything different. This afternoon it finally cleared off for a while, but I had already taken my photos for today, so I didn’t get outside again.

Here’s one shot from walking from the school to my car (that’s a walkabout, right?)…

I love the lacy edges on these leaves. They got dressed up for the literacy lunch!

I was at the school for a Literacy Lunch. Each of the elementary classes has one every year. We do a literacy activity and then have lunch in the kids’ classroom. Today we made a cute little tree picture by tracing Kristi’s arm and hand on paper, cutting it out, then gluing it and colored leaves on blue paper. Caleb cut the fringies for our grass. He did a great job!

The first photo is Kristi coloring leaves. Our leaves represent many types of trees and seasons. lol. The second shot is Rose working doubly hard at her coloring! Next is our finished product, and then our yummy taco salad lunch.

Here’s a bonus shot of my beautiful little lady.

Day 265

Only 100 days to go! I can’t believe I have stayed with this project all this time!

Today we celebrated Rose and Virginia’s birthday at Qwivals. This was their first birthday party ever.

Before we got started with all the fun stuff I took pictures of the girls and the family together…

This was my favorite shot of the two of them.

Here’s a shot of the adorable family. I don’t get Tracy in my sights too often, so I was happy for this opportunity.

I’ll have many, many more photos from the party on family blog

Day 234

I think I mentioned the challenge at Digital Photography School yesterday. Here are my shots (retaken today at the correct ISO) for the challenge. I was really happy with a few of them, considering that I could not shoot, chimp, shoot again, adjust, shoot again, etc. (For those who are wondering, “chimping” is looking at the camera’s lcd screen.)

We will be off camping Thurs-Sat, but I will probably post photos from my phone, just because I can. “See” ya on Sunday!

Oh! One more note – I won the bi-weekly challenge at OPS! It’s exciting! Here’s the photo that won it for me…

If you’re an OPS member, make sure to enter a photo in Challenge #21 – the theme is Summer Fun!

Day 216

Felice hosted a Slip-n-Slide afternoon! Whoohoo! My big boys were off working with Dad, but Kristi, Nathan, and Caleb got to go romping in the water with Felice and her girls. What fun!

Day 208

I had a trio of Hollywood-worthy starlets in my yard today!

And a trio of tough guys…

Here’s a closer shot of Austin’s shiner. He and a friend collided at school. For some reason I couldn’t get a better shot of it – it’s much more impressive in person. How does one get a good shot of a black eye?

Day 193

I got some pictures of Rose! She’s one of the twins from around the corner, and she’s a little sweetie. But she often gets really goofy in front of the camera. Today she was just calm and easy, and I got a few quick shots that I like. I think her mom will like them too.

Rose 4
(With bare off-camera flash – to flashy for my taste, but the background DID darken! Yay!)

 Rose 1
(This looks a little like a mug shot because it’s straight on and there’s no “movement”, but she’s such a cutie!)

Rose 2
(Look at that smile. That’s gonna be dangerous!)

 Rose 3
(I know there are all sorts of technical problems with this shot – hair in her face, her hand in a weird position, the strange crop of her pants – but I still love it. Her expression is classic Rose, and the wind in the hair doesn’t bother me.)
