Day 162

We had a beautiful spring day today!! Yay!! My brother spent the afternoon with us, and I had a chance to snap a few shots of him and Kristi...

I did get one shot of Michael really smiling, but Kristi looks like a goofball in it, so I didn't do anything with that one. Here's one of just Michael...

And of course...on the first available springy day, one must go sunbathing...

In full-length jeans and a sweater! LOL!!

(BTW, for photog friends... I know my flash was too hot, but I didn't use the adjustable one...I was too lazy to change all the pieces so I could use the adjustable flash outdoors. I tried just moving it back further - the second shot of K & M was with the flash about 8 feet back and 6-7 feet in the air shooting directly at them.)

Really nice that your brother came to visit. Kristi must really like him...she looks so happy in these pictures. Cute little sun bather! Guess you have to get sunshine whenever you can. ;)

Kristi does look really happy with her uncle.
Love those mountains in the background.
LOL about the sun bather in your yard. He needed the vitamins the sun provides, it's been a long, hard winter.

That's the happiest I've seen Kristi in any picture. What a sweet pair they make! I laugh at the the sunbathing pic - we were all doing the same thing yesterday!

Elli, love those mountain backgrounds!

I have a question for you. If your flash was too hot (not something I noticed till you mentioned it though), rather than adjust the flash, why not stop down your aperture, and have a longer shutter speed?

Very nice photos of your brother and Kristi! I'm laughing so hard at your little sunbather, too!

In answer to Eric's question:

I forgot to mention that I was trying something I'd seen mentioned two different places recently. These two photographers both used essentially the same settings for all portraits regardless of whether they were indoors or out. What they adjusted was the output or position of their lights. I was playing with that concept.

Oh, gotcha. You think you'll like how it works? I would think, personally, that it would bee easier to just stop down a bit then fine tune the light position, especially as that makes the light quality change. Though I suppose it's all a matter off opinion.
