We’re RICH!

Waaaaay back when – when Andrew was just 6 or 7 – I went to a 12-hour cereal sale at Super 1 (our local grocery store). I bought boxes and boxes and bags and bags of sale cereals – probably 50 or more boxes/bags of a variety of cereals. I came home and put all of them away in the huge, walk-in pantry we had at the time. All those breakfast cereals took up at least 3 shelves in my pantry. Andrew came by the pantry while I was working in there and with awe in his voice he said, “We’re rich!”

I had to laugh, but at the same time I realized the truth of his statement. We didn’t (still don’t) have a nice savings account, an expensive house, or luxury vehicles, but we had (and still have) all our needs met. To Andrew that was illustrated in the rows and rows of cereal in front of him. What a great reminder to me – with each cereal sale – of the fact that God has provided for us consistently. I am so thankful!

It’s Walkabout Wednesday. I did not want to go walking about today. I’m dizzy, stuffy, cold, and generally not interested in being out in the frigid temps. But I’m certainly not going to miss a day of this journey so early! So Molly (the dog) and I went for a 10 minute walk.

I’ve taken shots of this statue before. The title is To Know Joy, and I just love it! The problem is that it sits in a teeny, tiny “park” in the middle of town, with ugly trees, dirty garages, power lines, houses, etc all around it. I finally found a position to shoot from that cuts out most of that stuff. Unfortunately, the sunlight can’t possibly come from the right direction to light her face, (she’s facing north) and I don’t know anyone tall enough to get my reflector that high. lol. Anyway, here’s Joy…

Texture Tuesday. I was not inspired today, but I did take some photos of this great old trunk we have all of our family games in. It has a sort of leathery texture to it, but I didn’t take the time it would require to get a really good shot of it. Blame it on the cold I have. So what I did was put a texture layer on top – so it’s two different types of “texture.”

It’s Monochrome Monday! This is one of my neighbor’s wheels…he has several of these old wheels with rubber tires on them. Some of them are even wooden wheels, and some are metal…very cool old things.

Today is Snapshot Sunday – so what do I do? I go to the studio to do real portraits. The kids are all watching movies today and we have a few sickies, so I didn’t take a snapshot of the family.

This little man just cracks me up!

These two are just so goofy!

I am amazed at how our Facebook group is growing! It’s awesome! I’m so glad to see so many people on this fun photographic journey!

I’m beginning to think I’m going to have to give in and admit that the cold caught me. I’ve been running from it and trying to shoo it away with zinc lozenges, but I guess I’m just not fast enough. Bummer.

The point of that is that I didn’t go out driving around for a Scenic Saturday photo as I had intended to do. I wanted to get out and find a neat wintery scene for my first Scenic Saturday. I got out – the front door – used my 300mm lens to shoot the view from my front door – and came right back in. Well, I did take a total of 5 outdoor shots.

So here’s my Scenic Saturday…

Photoshop friends – please tell me the best way to get rid of the power lines…my cloning wasn’t good on them, my use of the patch tool wasn’t right either…I just dunno. I need a LOT of Photoshop help! I’m so used to Paint Shop Pro that it’s taking a lot of practice to switch over.

It’s January 1, 2010! Wow! I can’t believe it’s 2010. As I’ve mentioned before, I am starting a new 365 project with a group of friends. We have a Facebook group set up so you can find all of us there - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&gid=232089574931.
