Today’s assignment - “Sunday Challenge: Compose an image that has a soft and dreamy look today, and make a photograph.” Here’s my answer…a self-portrait with my sweetie.

This is the first time I’ve worked at portraits in a couple weeks. Shame on me! I must give credit where it’s due – several kids helped me with the photos I took this afternoon, (Dale, Austin, Kristi, Caleb) and I’m not sure who actually snapped the shutter for this one. I think it was me, but it’s hard to tell when we took over 30 photos and everyone wanted to press the button.

Sunday Snapshot! Felice had the kids over to play on the Slip-n-Slide. I have pictures of all the kids, too, but this was my favorite.

Snapshot Sunday! Ken’s brother and family are in town for a week, so we’ve been hanging out at Nana’s house having fun with them.

After a rousing game of “football,” (the only rule is that anyone over 18 is winning) Ken kicked the football out into the field and told the kids to go get it. Nice kick!

(Molly was quite happy to chase it.)

Nathan kept claiming injury – it seemed to happen most when he didn’t get the ball the moment he wanted it. Wierd. Here Uncle Jerry and Cousin Cristina are offering sympathy to the wounded player. Or something.

Caleb and Nathan both struggled with the grumpies every time they didn’t get the ball.

But it’s really hard to stay grumpy when Uncle Jerry runs over and poses with you. Even Molly got into the action!

Snapshot Sunday…I took a bunch of pictures today, but I’m not really happy with one of them. Oh well. Some days are like that. Here is my attempt at The Daily Shoot assignment. “Challenge: Invent your own filter! Shoot through something translucent or transparent. Make a photo with a unique look."

Snapshot Sunday! This is a really terrible snapshot because Fancy’s room is dark and it was very cloudy, so I had to have my camera at 3200 ISO. I took snaps of what all the family members were doing at this time – just for the fun of it – but my computer is behaving so badly right now that I can’t edit them. So this is all you get for Snapshot Sunday!

It seems to me that Fancy recently claimed to have cleaned her room. Hmm.

Snapshot Sunday! Here are a few shots from around Scrivnerburg…

We’re trying the grass thing again this year (4th year!). This time we have a hardier seed that is supposed to be able to handle less water and full shade. We’ll see.

This nice tall one looks happy! Maybe it will joyfully spread its seeds and make our yard look like there’s something like grass growing.

I got this dahlia plant for Mother’s Day with a few buds on it. It got left outside one cold night (I didn’t realize it was going to be in the 20’s!) and all the leaves got nipped by the cold (that’s the brownish stuff in the photo), but this blossom persevered. It doesn’t look perfect, but it’s blooming! This plant has plans!

Here are a couple Sunday Snapshots. We had a pretty low-key, lazy day. We spent some time outside with the kids – Ken played catchish with Austin, Kristi, and Nathan. There was a lot more ball chasing than ball catching, but they all had fun.

Nathan got distracted from the game – Hammy came to visit, and Nathan had to chase him.

(My kids call every squirrel Hammy after the squirrel in Over the Hedge.)

Since it’s Mother’s Day I will post photos of my wonderful mother. This woman has the best sense of humor, she has a great attitude about life, and she didn’t kill me when I was a teenager. She deserves a medal! We were blessed to have her sisters here to visit for a few days, and I loved every minute I spent with all of them! (My mom is the one sitting on the stool.)

I told my mom that I wanted to see her “semi pleasant” face.

It’s Snapshot Sunday! My snaps today are not of my own kids – they are of a cutie patootie that came to our church today. He is the grandson of one of my friends, and he couldn’t get any cuter! Not only is he absolutely adorable, he’s sweet! I never heard him fuss and he was very easily redirected when he was headed for trouble. Precious little man!

He was too fast for me when I was on the ground at his level – I couldn’t keep up! Several of my shots have terrible motion blur, and they aren’t from his eye level (as I like them to be), but his grandma will love them anyway!

I also took a few pictures of this robin’s nest. The robin built it above our neighbor’s back door and laid her eggs. Then she got trapped inside their house, and when they finally got her out of the house she left and never came back to her nest. That was more than a week ago. Too bad. But the eggs are really pretty!

(I boosted the color just a bit because I love the colors of the nest, and they were a bit lost in the original photo.)

This is another shot of To Know Joy. I like the extreme sunflare on this. Caleb was appreciating the statue – walking around it, touching, trailing his hand along her skirt – and he told me she’s “God’s Honey.”

What a great Easter Sunday! Everything went well today! The kids weren’t even terribly disappointed that we didn’t hunt for eggs. We decided to take the focus off male rabbits that lay eggs and put it on Jesus’ resurrection. It was a good day, and everyone has been happy all day! Yay!

Here are a few photos from our afternoon at Nana’s house…
Ken and Fancy shared the story of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection with a set of Resurrection Eggs. Ken also prepared some delicious deviled eggs for us.

We had a great time with bubbles and kites (representing rising from the grave). The tulips are from Nana’s happy centerpiece. Tulips are such joyful flowers!

Another full day! I almost forgot to post today! We had church this morning, my in-laws here for lunch (and Ken’s haircut) after, then this evening we had movie night at church. Whew! I’m ready for bed! Here’s my Sunday Snapshot – kids watching Babe: Pig in the City.

It’s Snapshot Sunday! I wanted to practice shooting with sunlight through my diffuser panel (part of my 5-in-1 reflector), but the light was still too bright for Kristi Rose Toes. She was very squinty. But I had to take a picture of her puppy-dog-ear ponytails because I love them, and I fear that she will be too grown up for them before I know it. She’s just such a cutie patootie.

We like to eat Sunday breakfast as a family. Here’s a bit of our Sunday morning breakfast table…

Shortly after this was taken the table had yummy coffee cake and grapes that were quickly consumed.

I waited to post today because I thought I might take more photos…but I didn’t. So if you’ve seen our breakfast on Facebook, I’m sorry you have to be tempted by yummy Peanut Butter Waffle Toast again. Good stuff.

I had one for a snack this afternoon with nothing on it, and it was very good. I think I might like them better without the syrup!

This shot was taken using white foam board as a backdrop and a white reflector as the base. It was lit with a Canon 220ex (full power, as there are no other options with that flash) through an umbrella.

Look what God gave us for Valentine’s Day!

The pink Valentine’s sunrise didn’t last long – it got gray and completely overcast very quickly. But this sure was nice to see.

Snapshot Sunday, and the last day of the first month! This month of photos has been effortless! I remember when I started my first 365 and I thought there was no way I’d remember to post a photo every day. Now it’s just a matter of fact, and I never even have to think about it. It’s a habit, and I love it!

Today’s photo truly is a snapshot. I took a few snaps at church, and I was going to use those – but then this opportunity arose. Every one recognizes Superman, Spiderman, and Batman. Now it’s time for the world to know Pictureman – saving the world one snapshot at a time!

Yes, I realize Pictureman doesn't have a camera. He doesn't see that as a problem. (Please note how he solved the cape problem that was brought to light in The Incredibles. Why didn’t Thunderhead and Dynaguy think to tie their capes around their legs?)
