I didn't have any trouble finding a subject for The Daily Shoot today - "Go white on white today. Make a photograph of a white subject on a white background." For this photo I went back over to Vance's yard and took another shot of this great wheel.

We had blizzard conditions overnight and early this morning. It was quite wintery! As my husband said, "winter has winted." It sounds as if we're done getting snow for now, but the temperatures are supposed to be very low - single digits Fahrenheit, and even below zero for a short period of time. Cold enough to stay inside by the fire!

Instead of doing the Daily Shoot assignment today (horizontal lines) I decided to capture some snow. It seems we have it in abundance today, and it's covering the horizontal lines I was going to shoot! It looks like it's time for my neighbor to put some decorations on his tree!

This “thingy” has been featured before. Here’s a different view that is intended to answer this assignment - “Look for an area with a big differential in light. Make a photo exposed for the brightest area, isolating a subject.”

I’m not sure this really meets the criteria since there’s so much light in the grasses, but the pump thingy is shaded by a large tree to camera right, so it’s much darker than the sky in the background. I guess that works, right?
Someday I need to ask my Vance what this is.
Thanks for dropping by! I appreciate the support!

Monochrome Monday! My great neighbor Vance always provides me with interesting things for black and white…

Here’s another view of the “thingy.”

And here’s a color shot of the beautiful bouquet Caleb gave me for my birthday…

It was a beautiful day today, so Ken, Caleb and I took a walk to the little park (the one with the Joy statue) and sorta had lunch. It was very nice, even if Ken was the only one to eat anything. I took pictures and Caleb played with sunshine flowers (aka dandelions). What a nice day! (It’s a good thing, too – the afternoon was INSANE!)
Anyway…I’m off to watch Chuck with my sweetheart. Tell me what you did or didn’t like about my photos!

Monochrome Monday! I got near the end of this day and realized I hadn’t shot my photo for today. I’ve been too busy playing with my new phone! So I went across to my neighbor’s yard to take some shots of his collection of old wheels/tires. These are set up as a sort of yard boundary.

I downloaded some new stuff for Photoshop today from this site. If you scroll down the page a bit there’s a section of free downloads. I used the PhotoTools 2.5 to edit this. I put the HDR effect on it, then Chrome to turn it black and white. I like the result for this subject.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I think I’m back to “normal” for me. I didn’t do any photo browsing or reading today – too busy learning the cool new phone! :-)

It’s Monochrome Monday! This is one of my neighbor’s wheels…he has several of these old wheels with rubber tires on them. Some of them are even wooden wheels, and some are metal…very cool old things.

Day 226

Just a few snaps today…I didn’t get creative with photos because it was a very busy day! We spent a few minutes outside visiting with our great neighbor, Vance. (That link will take you to a blog that explains why he’s a great neighbor.) His dog, Shady, seems to believe that she’s the queen of the universe, and she wanted Molly to know it. I snapped a couple shots of the two dogs making tentative attempts to be buds. As long as Molly understood that Shady was queen, all was good.
