Well, it’s been a very, very busy Tuesday, and I didn’t get a dedicated “texture” photo…but here’s some nice texture! My sweet son Dale bought these roses for me last night. Not only did he see roses and decide to buy me some, but he thought it out – one rose was $3.98. A dozen was $12.98. A dozen was a better deal, so I got a dozen! Good boy!

Here’s a storyboard I just had to put together. Molly is learning to obey, and she now stays in the yard when the kids leave for school, but she doesn’t do it happily.
 
She’s really turning into a great dog. Whew!

It’s Texture Tuesday! How ‘bout a new pattern instead of a texture? I found these Corelle plates at my favorite thrift store today. It was a set of 12 plates for $8! I was so excited! We’ve wanted Corelle for a long time because we break so many plates around here (that’s what you get for starting kids on chores when they’re 2!). This isn’t the pattern I would choose if I picked my own, but for $8, I love it!

This shot was taken with my Palm Pre Plus and edited in CS3. (I left my camera bag in the Suburban when I sent Fancy and boys off to baseball. Oops.)

Texture Tuesday – the texture of rain. We had plenty of raindrops to shoot today! It has been a very rainy, drizzly, cold spring day. If we had flowers around I could have tried for a flower reflection in a raindrop – but we’re short on flowers at the moment. Hmph. So instead, you get the reflection of my beloved trailer in the raindrop.

Lots of Flickr looking today…I saw some great shots of horses, but I didn’t have a chance to try any of that today. I might see if I can get out and find horses tomorrow.

Here’s my Tuesday Texture. This is one of Fancy’s formal gowns. It’s so sparkly in the sunshine!

I took a photo of Kristi from a couple months ago and laid the new texture on it. The texture layer is set to hard light with a lowered opacity (I don’t remember what it was set to), with a gaussian blur of 4.

I was working on texture again for this Texture Tuesday. Once again, I loosely followed this tutorial from Shadowhouse Creations to put this together. Here’s my texture:

It’s a combination of these 4 files – one of them is actually used 3 different times. I used a variety of layer blend modes – mostly soft light and hard light.

Here I’ve used it very lightly on a photo on hard light mode:

I’m going to take a page out of Sandra’s book (heheh…book” – if you read her blog you will probably understand why I’m amused at myself) and share with you what I’ve been reading up on today. So I tried some new stuff today. I was playing around with some textures after reading this tutorial over at Shadowhouse Creations.

So the rocks are a little too heavy in this, but I was just playing, so that’s okay. Anyway, I tried it out on this photo

after reading this tip and ended up with this…

I also used Jerry Jones texture on one of my weekend photos to try it out. Here’s the original…
It’s fine, and I was reasonably happy with it since it was taken with my softest lens and all the colors of the scene were pretty bland. Then I ran added that Grunge Palette Texture with a soft light blending mode, and this was the result.
It’s not enough to make it look all Photoshopped – just enough to give it a boost. I never would have thought of using a texture this way before I saw it at Shadowhouse Creations, but I love this!

I went looking for texture in the linens section of Kmart today. I wasn’t overly thrilled with any of my photos, but here’s what I have…

This is a very fuzzy bath mat. I would love to have one of these – my bath mat is in terrible shape – but I didn’t spend the money today.

Here is what I did with the texture (the photo of Caleb with the banana dog is a few weeks old – just the texture is new).

I put the texture on top of the photo and added a layer mask. I changed the layer blend mode to Soft Light and lowered the opacity a bit. Then I masked out Caleb and the banana dog. After that was done I lowered the opacity a bit more so the texture wasn’t overwhelming.

How’s everyone doing this Texture Tuesday? It’s been a good day for me. I accomplished a bunch of stuff, I actually worked on my photo today, and I haven’t lost my temper yet. Whoohoo!

This is the brick wall at the hospital we go to for therapies (Speech, Physical, and Occupational therapy for Austin and Kristi). This wall has great texture! The only problem is that even at f/14 my depth of field was too small. I’ll try again another Tuesday with a higher f-stop.

We had a bonus while we were waiting for Kristi to finish up. This flock of geese kindly came to see what they could see. They didn’t seem to be too worried about us watching them, but we stayed in the car so we wouldn’t ruin their day.

My texture shot isn’t as texturey as I’d like, but it just didn’t happen today. But these flowers are brightening up my dining room, and I love the feeling of flower petals. So that’s my texture. These were given to me by Fancy’s friend Josh when we went out Saturday evening. Nice boy. :-)

(This appears much more orangey to me online than it does in Photoshop. Why?)

It’s Texture Tuesday, and since it’s finally snowing I decided to use snow for my texture. This was shot on my Suburban – isn’t it nice of my Suburban to keep providing me with textures?

It’s Texture Tuesday once again. I tried a couple different things today…

Shooting up the side of the maple tree – I boosted the color a bit with Topaz Adjust.

Shooting straight on – same place as the first shot. I added a bit of texture with Topaz Adjust.

I had a special request to try more macro stuff…there’s not a lot to shoot right now – no bugs, no flowers…just a lot of dirt and dead leaves. So guess what you get?

I had an unusual subject for Texture Tuesday – my Suburban! We had freezing rain this morning, and my vehicle was completely iced over. This is actually a combination of two shots – one of the blue hood with a shot of the icy windshield laid on top as a texture at a low opacity.

And this was just for fun, and just cuz I could. I got the action for this from panosfx.com – it’s from a set called The BnBig Picture.

Texture Tuesday. I was not inspired today, but I did take some photos of this great old trunk we have all of our family games in. It has a sort of leathery texture to it, but I didn’t take the time it would require to get a really good shot of it. Blame it on the cold I have. So what I did was put a texture layer on top – so it’s two different types of “texture.”
